At St. Benedict Catholic Church, our Pastoral Council operates on a Ministry & Project Model rather than a representative model.
Our Purpose
In accordance with Canon Law (Can. 536), the Council is a consultative body presided over by the Pastor. Its primary function is not to vote on policies but to investigate, consider, and propose practical solutions for the pastoral works of the parish.
How It Works
Not Elected, But Selected: Membership is not determined by popular vote. Instead, parishioners who desire to serve approach the Pastor, to join a specific project or ministry idea.
Active Service: To be a member of the Council, one must be actively involved in leading or serving on a current parish project.
Open to All: Any registered parishioner in good standing may petition to join the Council by proposing a project that serves the parish mission.
Have an Idea? We invite you to stop by the parish office or speak with Father to discuss how your talents can serve the community. If you have a specific project in mind, you can submit a proposal for the Pastor’s prayerful discernment.
