Sacristans

Paragraph 105 of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM): "The sacristan, who carefully arranges the liturgical books, the vestments, and other things necessary in the celebration of Mass."

The responsibilities of this type of ministry is to prepare the sanctuary before Mass with all of the requisite accoutrement for the worthy celebration of the Sacred Ministries; after the Mass it is then to ensure that all things are returned back to their pre-Mass condition.  These services help the priests and deacons to be spiritually prepared for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.  In addition to the training session, it is laudable to study with dedication these documents: General Instruction of the Roman Missal and Redemptoris Sacramentum.
